Serving nostalgia and cold treats, as well as hot ones such as burgers and pizza. We stopped in for malts and shakes. It was very hot outside, but there is a covered and shaded seating area with picnic tables. Several vintage cars were in the parking lot, adding to the classic malt shop ambiance.

We live about 3.5 hours from The Cow, however we have family all through Bedford County and have been coming back here for all of our lives thanks to our wonderful parents. My parents are the reason our love for The Cow is so fierce! We are HOOKED on the orange pineapple soft serve- absolutely delightful, light, refreshing with just enough flavor. I splurge for the waffle cone because I'm lucky if we get to The Cow once a year. I love that they still carry the flavor burst ice cream flavors- as a 90's teen, this takes me right back to my youth. The brightly colored streamers hanging in the parking lot just make you happy! During the summer months, the floral arrangements are to die for- simply gorgeous! Make sure to grab a picture of yourself in front of the cow mascot (figure/statue) too! I can't locate a photos of it at the moment to share. We were bummed that they were closed a few years back for a while- and are ecstatic that they've been back and open for business.

Ice cream stands in PA are about a dime a dozen, but The Cow is probably the best bang for your buck for the area. I don’t really have a sweet tooth, but the hotter weather months entices even the likes of me out for a cold snack. And the best thing is, it’s not just sundaes, cones, flurries, shakes (They make a mean CHOCOLATE shake!). They also have a full functioning snack bar next to their ice cream stand that sells snacks of the savory sort (e.g. nachos, jalepeno poppers, onion rings, fries, burgers, pizza, hot dogs, etc. [I’ve provided TONS of menu pics in this review instead of posting pics of myself with babies/kids like most everyone else. So scroll down and check those out! WAY more helpful.]). The burgers are fine. Not a fan of square cafeteria pizza. The nacho cheese is really thick and has a weird aftertaste. And it’s not served warm. The jalepeno poppers, fries, and onion rings are good to go. And the burgers and hot dogs are like the kind you get at a backyard cookout. Nothing to write home about, but again, if you’re hankering for salty snacks to take the edge off all the sweet treats, it’s decent datenite food. I haven’t ordered any of the seafood platters or the funnel fries yet. But when I do, I’ll update with more pics. The staff are exceptionally kind and polite people. The customers on the other hand are a different story. This particular ice cream stand gets swamped with customers. So you’re going to see quite a few impatient people standing in line and hovering over the shoulders of the people standing in front of them. People jockeying to cut in line. People not managing their kids or pets they bring to the window. And people who exercise absolutely no social situational awareness after they have received their order, and just block the window area eating their ice cream instead of moving on. Usually, there are large groups of families who show up and order all at once. My advice is to go next door and order something of the savory nature and wait it out in the comfort of your air conditioned vehicle until the line to the ice cream stand dies down. There are plenty of outdoor tables—particularly in the gazebo areas to sit. But instead of dealing with unruly crowds, heat, and bugs we just eat in our vehicle.

There is something special about The Cow. It's status as a local favorite is well deserved... the soft-serve is fantastic. I have been coming here since I was young, but now I don't have the opportunity very often. If i am anywhere close, I am headed to The Cow. The hot fudge sundae is my go-to. Take the time for a visit and you will not be disappointed.. Thank you to the Claycomb family for many good times and the delicious ice cream!

It was so good and inexpensive to stop and grab a snack. Only in our area can you get two ice cream cones for less than $10. Anytime I am driving back home and the cow is open it's definitely going to be my snack stop.

The Cow Soft Ice Cream is not just a local ice cream stand—it’s a beloved landmark nestled in Pleasantville, Pennsylvania, where nostalgia and flavor blend seamlessly. This charming spot serves up classic soft-serve ice cream alongside an impressive menu of savory delights, from burgers and pizza to seafood. What sets The Cow apart is its ability to evoke memories while offering comforting, well-crafted treats that satisfy every craving.

One of the standout features is their unique orange pineapple soft serve, praised for its light, refreshing taste that balances just the right amount of sweetness and tang. It’s a flavor that transports longtime visitors back to their youth, especially those who remember the vibrant “flavor burst” ice cream of the 90s. Their malts, shakes, and banana splits also hold a special place here, embodying the essence of a classic American malt shop, complete with vintage cars and cheerful picnic tables shaded under a gazebo.

The Cow’s culinary range extends far beyond ice cream. The hot food menu offers reliable crowd-pleasers—burgers that evoke the nostalgia of backyard cookouts, crispy jalapeño poppers, onion rings, and seafood like clam strips and fish sandwiches that have won hearty recommendations. While not every item hits a home run, the mix of sweet and savory gives visitors a reason to linger and explore the menu, especially on a warm summer day.

The ambiance is part of the charm: bright streamers flutter in the parking lot, floral arrangements bloom each summer, and a cow mascot statue invites photo opportunities, enhancing the community feel. The covered seating area provides a cool respite from the heat, making it a pleasant destination regardless of weather. Though lines can be long and crowds bustling, the friendly staff and the vibrant atmosphere make the wait worthwhile for many.

Visiting The Cow Soft Ice Cream is not just about grabbing a snack; it’s an experience layered with tradition, quality flavors, and community spirit. Whether you’re indulging in a chocolate shake, savoring a scoop in a waffle cone, or tackling a plate of nachos, The Cow offers a slice of Americana that’s both comforting and refreshing. It’s a place where memories are made one scoop and one bite at a time.
